Any Fans of Project Runway out there?
I have watched Project Runway for years and that is where I first saw Christian Siriano. If you haven’t guess by now – he’s one of my faves! Well on the show, the adviser’s name is Tim Gunn and his infamous phrase was always ‘make it work!’ Regardless of how much time was left on the clock for design or if there was a major error that needed to be corrected – it was the mantra of the show. Make it Work.
So that’s just what I did here. I grew up in a world where you had to get creative with the items that you owned since new pieces don’t come around very often. I still haven’t purchased one full matching suit set to this day. The two Marco Migliore suits I have were gifted to me and I am so thankful for them. The rest of my wardrobe are made of separates that I have purchased at different points in time. I try to pair them together as close as I can in color to make them look like a matching set. The lighting of conference rooms help my cause a bit. 🙂
This blazer was purchased from TJMaxx when I started my life in the corporate world and the pants were purchased in Italy just two years ago when we visited Sorrento. They are not an exact match in color – but I still love the way they look together. I paired them with a fun floral camisole to play off the merlot tint and a maroon jacquard flat to pull it altogether. It may not be the same color, but I think it gives the outfit some character and a great story! So don’t be afraid to embrace what you have and pull together looks that are all your own, matching or not.
What do you think? Does it work?
