Sheer Black Sleeves + Leopard Print Love

DSC_0745

I was in NYC recently for business, keenly aware that I was only a week away from experiencing all that New York Fashion Week has to offer. I would have been stationed right in the thick of the glamour, with makeup artists and stylists rushing off to tents, models wearing all the newest seasonal designs, and photographers capturing it all. While this may not be the dream for everyone, I think it sounds heavenly. Perhaps one day this dream will come true…for me!

Whether you are in New York for an event, sightseeing, or just to hang out, please please please check out Hotel Hugo, my newest haven in the big city. I came across it on Hotels.com, and I fell in love from the start. I drove down from Boston and was greeted outside the hotel by one of the valets, Luis. As the first “face” of the hotel, Luis made a lasting impression, starting with a great smile and polite manners (He’s a keeper, if anyone from the hotel is reading this!). He unloaded my car, asked me about my visit,  and helped me to the room. He gave a tour of the room and where to find everything, found a parking spot for my car, and returned the key with a nice note while I was out walking the city. Now that’s service! Honestly, from the moment you step in the door and check-in to the moment that you leave, every single person there is so positive, happy and hospitable. I am lucky to have stumbled across this hidden gem and I hope to be back there soon.

*I’ll give you a digital tour of my hotel room, the fabulous hotel amenities, and a travel itinerary in an upcoming post!

What excites me about this post is being able to share with you my very first DvF experience! Diane von Furstenberg is such a fashion icon and an inspiring business woman – I am humbled to be able to own anything of hers. For those that did not know, DvF was a real life princess, decided that was not going to cut it, and then began her designing career (a woman after my own heart). She has the kind of garments and accessories that scream, “Hello daahhhhling…” in a tasteful tone (of course). This wonderful and beautiful clutch is actually a resin cross-body bag with a more abstract animal print pattern to it. It is deceivingly small and fits all my essential belongings, including my cellphone!

I paired the DvF clutch with my favorite color – black! I altered my typical matte black look to feature different textures and cuts in order to make everything pop. The long sleeve top features a sheer overlay paired with a fab TJMaxx find – a structured blazer vest. The vest is a great day-to-night option for layering. I continued with the texture by adding a pair of cigarette cut jeans and patent leather studded heels. I’m ready for New York Fashion Week! (eventually…)
