White Sweater + Leopard Skirt

New York City is not only the “concrete jungle where dreams are made of,”it is so full of life! There is always something new to do or check out when you are there – or maybe something you missed previously that caught your attention this time around.

As I mentioned in my last posting, I was more than impressed with Hotel Hugo located in SoHo. This stylish boutique hotel is only a year and a half old but the staff are seasoned and the decor is just lovely. At registration, the concierge pointed out the hotel restaurant, Il Principe, as well as Bar Hugo, the rooftop bar that opens in the evening. I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to have a sneak peek of Bar Hugo during the day.

Walking into a bar during the day can you give you a different perspective than when the lights are dim and the details are not as clear. The first thing I noticed was the amount of light that was pouring into this beautiful lounge due to the floor to ceiling windows that line every wall. Every step you take brings you to a distinctly unique view of the city, each more intriguing than the last. Turning inside, the cognac seating areas are luxurious and lined with the perfect Havana trim. The walls are adorned with eclectic artwork that fit perfectly into the space. The only thing missing was the open air – even though I do not wish for it mid-winter!

It may be a bit early to wear a sleeveless sweater to work, but I was surprised by the overall warmth of this outfit. The white knit sweater is shaped more like a dress, with split sides that provide great coverage. The skirt is a boiled wool leopard print that was light in movement but also a warm option for a skirt. I wanted to break up the sweater a bit, so I added a slim belt with an interlocking buckle at the waistline to draw it in visually. In order to  wear this to work during the winter season, I would most likely add a light, duster-length cardigan to match the length of the sweater and not make it look too choppy. I kept the accessories light and simple, including a clutch that provides just enough storage for daily essentials.

I hope that you enjoyed the sneak peak of Bar Hugo NYC. Be sure to make your way over there one day, grab a cocktail, and enjoy the view. Thank you so much for reading!
