Scallop Shorts + A Pink Lippie

The New England snow has graced us with its presence this weekend and I am ready to plan another warm getaway. Spending a weekend in Punta Cana recently was not enough vitamin D for me – I am craving more sunshine.

While in the Dominican Republic, we stayed at the Melia Caribe Tropical Resort. The all-inclusive resort resort located on Playa Bavaro had three different sections including an adults-only area called The Level. The Level featured a VIP lounge where you were served cocktails during check-in, a multi-style restaurant called Cuatro with options for eating buffet style, Peruvian food, Italian food, or steak any night you’d prefer. Besides the beautiful beach and views, it also had a beautiful pool with a swim up bar, a spa with outdoor Bali beds and beautiful rooms.

These bright pink scallop shorts were one of two pairs of that I purchased this past summer (outside of my comfort zone). I paired it with a complimentary scallop shell top that is extremely comfortable but had just the right amount of detail for this trip. When traveling I enjoy keeping it simple and clean – as fuss free as possible. I am also wearing bright pink lipstick for the first time and I love it! (details below) You can really never go wrong with a NARS lippy…

Traveling is also a wonderful time to get some reading in. I started Amy Poehler’s Yes Please and it is amazing, hilarious, touching and empowering. If you haven’t read this yet – go out and get it. You might want it for any future snow storms or trips!

*Fun fact: It was so humid outdoors that the camera lens was getting fogged up during these photos. My amazing blogtographer decided to shoot from inside instead and in some of the images you can see his reflection!
