Going Green in A Girl Boss Look

This might be one of my favorite outfits this year. It’s a little bit of flair with a pop of color and a side of sass!

I am finding my voice more and more and while I was explaining this newfound revelation to the mister – I literally squealed with delight. I had this epiphany of ” Who am I dressing for – if it isn’t for myself?’ I have built this entire blog based on what I think my readers would like but never really sharing my own sense of style. I guess I got sucked into that world without realizing the mental block it gave me creatively. Going forward, you are going to see more of how I would style things (old and new!) and hope to inspire you to follow your creative genius too.

I love STRUCTURE. I especially like pieces that air on the slightly dramatic side like this ruffle collar sweater. It looks super high end because of the ruffle detail and it was under $25. On top of being super chic and delicate, it is from H&M’s Conscious Clothing  line where they use recycled materials to make the products. This sweater is made from 50% recycled polyester!! Who knew recycling could look and feel so good?

I welcome COLOR but on my own terms. I have embraced that my power color is black in my last post, Polished + Poised in All Black , after running from it all these years. When I do want color, I tend to lean towards  darker jewel tones like this emerald green pant I bought in Sorrento, Italy. It is a strong and vibrant green pant and I could wear it over and over again.

I enjoy bold PATTERNS. Not bold in the sense of large polka dots or stripes – I mean prints and shapes that look like baroque wall paper. Embracing it and rocked a leopard print here in the belt as a small accent and in the shoe. I think that it gives the outfit a bit of balance and personality.

TEXTURE, Texture. Texture. Layer it, mix and match, and ‘make it work‘ like Tim Gunn always says.  I want clothing that makes me shimmy in the mirror and do a double-take. You know what I’m talking about!

So here I am — standing a little taller, staring at myself in the mirror a little longer and carrying a new level of confidence. This is what growing up looks like people!
