If there is one item that you can purchase to last year after year and always ends up on the fall trend list — its this one.
Blazers are great staple items for every closet and range in levels of investment. No matter where you purchase one and no matter the brand, you want it to last (got mine at Forever 21 a few years ago). I recommend finding a fabric that you would be comfortable taking care of. If you want washable and easy to manage, don’t purchase one that will need to be dry cleaned every time you wear it. Find pieces that fit your lifestyle and that can be restyled multiple ways with items in your closet.
For instance – A plaid blazer is one of my favorite items to take out in the fall. It will never go out of style as you mix and match for a bunch of fresh looks. You can rock it with a tee, your favorite pair of jeans and sneakers or with a cami top and heels like I’ve done here. This year’s blazer styling trends for fall that you can easily do with a blazer you already own are:
- Cinch the waist with a belt over your trousers
- Wear matching colors palettes to build a monochromatic look
- Wear an over-sized or boyfriend style blazer with broad shoulders as is
- Mix and match textures like a velvet blazer with fun pants to offset the blazer
While all of the above is perfect for being caught in the street at New York Fashion Week or to be photographed for cover of a magazine I still love pulling together a classic girl boss outfit any day of the week. If you don’t own a plaid blazer and want one – I found a few great options for you and linked them below!
**Tip: My Forever 21 blazer has lasted so long because I choose to dry clean it instead of washing it at home. It has lasted a few years and worth the care I put into it.
