First we mourn – then we fight. 2020 is really shaping up to be a big year for change. Everything from the way we think about health and safety to amplified politics across to losing those who we deem impactful or inspirational to our life. It is insane to think that we also lost Kobe Bryant, his daughter Gigi, Chadwick Boseman and countless others in this new decade.
Though I did not know Ruth Bader Ginsburg personally, I am thankful for all the doors that she has opened up for women like me. Her fight has given us a voice and as she led by example, we learned to be independent and to make change where we can. It takes women like her to take a stand and women like me to continue to carry that message to all future generations. So as you re-enter the world in the new normal ( whatever that is…), remind yourself, “Women belong in all places where decisions are being made.”
Take the time to educate yourself on the issues rather than take someone’s word for it. Get out there and share your voice, and make sure you are being heard. Vote to uphold our democracy. Be bold and make change in your own way – our future depends on it. Thank you to my mother-in-law that got this tee before the notorious RBG passed as a reminder that we still have work to do.
Rest in power — Rest in peace to the Notorious R.B.G. You will be missed dearly.
Let’s get to work.
