A Resort Wedding // Cape Cod, MA

I love weddings! Weddings are such a wonderful gathering to share in the celebration of love between two people. This past weekend, I was honored to be able to witness the marriage of my friends, Gina and John on the cape. I am so glad that Gina said yes to her dress because it was dreamy – I mean look at her in that photo!! GORGEOUS!

John was such a dapper groom rocking a navy suit, while the rest of the party sported a shark skin grey ensemble with splashes of pink to complement. What a great couple! I am extremely happy for them and their new adventure together and wishing them a great honeymoon in Hawaii! Safe travels.

In addition, I wanted to give you quick peek at the venue because it was my first time there and I had never heard of it until this visit. I was so impressed, so if you get the chance, you have to go visit. The wedding took place at Wequassett Resort and Golf Club located in Harwich, also known as the Cape Cod area of Massachusetts. The cape is the quintessential New England destination for many locals (and visitors) but my first visit to Wequassett was a total treat. I had no idea that a view like that even existed in that area of the cape and I embraced it during my short visit.

We spent most of our time in their Twenty-Eight Atlantic restaurant area and I was blown away by the ambiance, the hospitable staff (Thank you Curtis, Malcolm, Keith and Ian!) and the breath-taking views. **Insider Tip: Try to address wait staff and service staff around you by their names. Introduce yourself and say thank you to them personally when they are helping you. I worked in hospitality for 14 years and I go above and beyond to learn all of the staff’s name if I can. It goes a long way….

The decor for the wedding was so simple, elegant and chic. With the charm already built into the resort, it really didn’t take much flair to elevate the surroundings.  The small details really made a difference here – such as a gold seashell with my name on it to signify my seat, or my table number on a sand dollar buried in the sand. Great little touches and surprises! I am bummed that I didn’t get a picture of the garden terrace that we were in, but with the glass walls, we were able to get the view without the rain. From looking at the website, I barely scratched the surface of this gem, so I will definitely be planning a trip back one day.

Lastly, I rented a dress from Rent the Runway for the affair. I like to use RTR for more formal events since most ladies don’t tend to reuse many items below the cocktail dress length frequently. It does take some time to look at options, read reviews and consider sizing, but I have loved all my rentals – I even added accessories this time! My favorite part is that I can send it back at the end of the event and they will take care of return shipping, incidentals (that are not beyond repair- even wine spills are ok!), and dry cleaning. It’s a win win situation! (dress details below)
