A Luxe Look Inspired by A Night Sky

These last few weeks have given me time to take a breath. I rarely take the time to check out, but it has been worth it.

We recently went to Maine with some close friends of ours for the weekend. Their family property sits on a beautiful lakefront and we had the opportunity to just be away from it all. No alarm clock to wake to. No scheduled plans. Just time on our hands to spend together.

One night, they took us out for an evening boat ride and it was one of the most serene moments I’ve had in a long time. Just the few of us, on the lake, underneath the stars. I’ve never seen a sky so beautiful. I could count the shooting stars above us – spot the space satellites moving over the earth – see the big dipper so clearly – and I just stared at the milky way. I’m a city girl at heart so a night sky like this is hard to come by. I took it all in and you better believe that I made a wish on every shooting star I could see. * * * * * ❤

So that moment, that night in particular, is the inspiration for this look.

I love this satin wide-shouldered animal print top (that looks like speckled stars) and I paired it with a satin paper bag style pant from Express. Because the pant is slightly above the ankle, a pointed toe pump helps to balance out the ‘white space’ on the bottom half. I wanted the look to feel luxe so the slight shimmer of the satin pant compliments the top well.
