Brand New Kind of Me.

One of the things that I have been trying to do this year is to embrace being myself. It is 2018 and I am fearlessly marching forward into this brand new, empowered ME!

This newfound confidence had a jump start recently from a speech that I watched on Facebook. I love watching and listening to TED talks, podcasts, and keynote speeches and I can add this to the list of one of my favorites speeches : Tracee Ellis Ross at Glamour. Tracee is an accomplished and confident boss lady, but even she has her moments of self-doubt and reflection. She wrote one day in her journal:

“MY LIFE IS MINE.“

These four words just rang through my bones and made everything so clear. I am adopting this as one of my mantras for this year and I am embracing all the fun, my quirks, my want to explore, and the development of my personal style! I want the cake, the cupcake, the doughnut, and the option to eat it too! (a girl’s gotta eat, right?! lol)

This look is a great representation of all of my girl power energy coming together. It is fun and flirty with the pop of bell sleeve detail, while still being strong and bold when layered with a white structured blazer. The transitions in multiples styles of fabrics and textures used to make me extremely uncomfortable and cringe, but now I crave it and seek it out.

I am also wearing oxfords for the first time! What a fun take on a classic shoe and it is extremely comfortable like all my other Nine West shoes. I picked up this pair at a TJMaxx and it took me a few weeks to get up the courage to wear them, but boy…..am I in trouble. I am definitely on the hunt for more flat options for the office, and oxfords are now part of that list too.
