Over the summer, I was inspired by a pair of black mesh espadrilles by Chanel I spotted in a magazine. They looked so comfortable, cute and versatile but unfortunately
the price tag was not as friendly to my working girl wallet. (maybe one day!) So I started to ask myself whether I was more in love with it because it was Chanel or was I in love with the actual style of the shoe? After I determined that it was the actual shoe style I enjoyed, it opened up a different way of thinking for me. I started the search for other styles that would look similar to what I wanted as an alternative and to my surprise there were a bunch!
The pair that I own now are by Steve Madden and I found these babies at Marshalls. For the low price of $29.99, I had a pair of awesome black mesh espadrilles that I rocked all summer long.
They are the easiest pairs of shoes to pack into my luggage or wear all day long for travel such as to and from the airport. I practically take them everywhere with me – they are pictured here in Toronto on a work tour.
In addition – I am kicking off a portion of my blog called The Alternative – where I hope to find you great style inspiration and options at multiple price points. Since I was obsessed with these shoes, I have found similar options for YOU listed below. I hope that you find something comparable that you would enjoy wearing. My pair were definitely worth it! Brunch at Mildred’s Temple Kitchen in Toronto was a blast with friends and a must try if you are ever in town. Tip : Get there early! You have to try the Blueberry Pancakes and make sure you share. They are the fluffiest stack of pancakes that you will ever have. 😉
